Maunsel House Somerset

Maunsel House is the 13th century home of Sir Benjamin Slade, and is now a venue for weddings, corporate events and house parties (www.maunselhouse.co.uk/blog.asp). As the business has expanded it became necessary to build a commercial kitchen. West Country Renovations were instructed to carry out this work and thoroughly enjoyed it.

The proudest moment for any builder of such a project is when people canít see where the old building ended and the new started, this has often been said of the kitchen at Maunsel. The stonework, the roof, mullion windows, complex lead and copper work, oak doors, ironmongery, chimney feature all were made to mirror the rest of the house. Our stonemasons have a true affinity with stone built houses; each piece of stone seems to have a rightful place.
